A Brief History of Projectors

Film projectors have been in use since the mid 1600’s and they have improved significantly over time. The early film projectors involved reflecting sunlight from a mirror onto a lens. This allowed the images to be shown on a screen. At that time what we know call a projector was known as a magic lantern. It wasn’t until 1952 when projectors were able to work using electricity that they became popular for movie theatres and other types of businesses.

Advances with projectors have been relatively slow though throughout history. In the mid 1990’s the first multimedia projector was introduced. It was created by scientists and researchers employed by the company Texas Instruments. This particular device allowed a small microchip to hold all the reflecting power needed to produce images.

It was improved upon again in 1996 when the first wireless projector was introduced. It was called the Focus System with very precise images and the ability to show colors quite vividly. The sound quality was also enhanced with built in speakers. This particular type of projector was in such high demand that it wasn’t long before the market was saturated with various models offered by top manufacturers. This resulted in projectors becoming more affordable as well as more advanced.

Electricity in 1951? They already used electricity in the 1920's The first SOUND feature was the jazz singer in 1927. Electricity WAS old hat by the fifties. Just think of gone with the wind projected with a candle and a clockwork motor and no sound.Do your research before putting out an article
